Graduate Programs in Vertebrate Paleontology

This list of links is intended to help locate graduate programs with a focus in vertebrate paleontology. It is not intended to be exhaustive, although a significant effort has been made to ensure that as many programs as possible are listed. The programs are organized by country, province, and state.

New Programs

Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Vanderbilt University

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Vanderbilt University is accepting applications for M.S. and Ph.D. students interested in vertebrate paleontology, paleoecology, and/or paleoclimates. With the addition of Dr. Larisa R. G. DeSantis, Vanderbilt’s M.S. and joint Ph.D. programs now welcome students with interests in the terrestrial vertebrate record, with potential projects utilizing tools such as stable isotopes, morphology, and/or dental microwear to reconstruct past environments and assess the effects of climate change on Cenozoic vertebrates. A diverse faculty complements these fields and supports students with interests in vertebrate and/or invertebrate paleoecology and paleonenvironments, geochemical processes, sedimentary systems, transport phenomena, and magmatic processes and crustal evolution. Graduate students are supported through teaching and/or research appointments. Potential students interested in vertebrate paleontology, paleoecology, and/or paleoclimates of Cenozoic environments should contact Dr. Larisa R. G. DeSantis. The application deadline is January 15, 2010.
